Fruity scents

A wonderfully warm afternoon after a very wet night and I have been picking early blackberries (accompanied by two greedy horses who mug me for the bowl.) Now the whole house is full of the scent of them gently cooking. Will it be jam, crumble or pie? The answer is yes to all of that- because there is also a huge box of plums from the trees at Abbey Cottage to deal with! The epitome of the ripening season.

Top teas according to Country Living magazine

The tearooms at the Old Station, Tintern has been listed as one of the best 25 tearooms in Britain to visit according to this month's Country Living.

The tearoom is listed as one of the magazines favourite tearooms and is urging people to visit their local tearooms to help rural economies.

The tearoom was recommended for its strawberry cream teas and its Tintern cheese platters.

The success follows on the back of a centre page spread that appeared in the South Wales Argus last week championing the tea rooms sandwiches – with a feature being run during British sandwich week.
