Autumn breaks 2013

Autumn breaks are very popular in this area, particularly with walkers, cyclists and golfers who love the quieter days, woodburner evenings and the gentle changing of the colours of the woods and countryside. Autumn breaks 2012 were sold out as usual and early booking for 2013 is advised. The leaflets are attached below These good value breaks do always sell out so do not delay if you need a date- just ask! The breaks are available between mid October and early December but not at half term- subject to availability.

Autumn breaks start in October and end in the first few days of December. If you are looking for a date in September please see the availability page as we dont have a special leaflet for these dates but can always quote . If you are looking for a break in December itself please see the Advent Christmas and New Year page of this website( see left hand column of this page)

The Wye Valley is a great place to see the golden colours of autumn.Recognised as one of the most beautiful woodlands in Britain, with most of its 4,300 hectares lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These woodlands are predominantly broadleaf with a mix of mature oak and beech as well as other species such as ash, cherry and small leafed lime. The historic Wye Valley Walk passes through Tintern and Monmouth. There are several view points from Upper Wyndcliffe near Chepstow, to Cuckoo Wood north of Llandogo, which offer spectacular views across the lower Wye Valley with the Bristol Channel and the old Severn Bridge in the background.

Have a look at this wonderful LIVE link from the Forest Commission (England) which shows you exactly when the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean trees are turning gold and then at their best.
